Basic facts

  • Early Jurassic

  • China

  • Herbivore

Xixiposaurus, signifying "Xixipo lizard," is a genus of "prosauropod" dinosaur that inhabited the Lower Lufeng Formation in present-day China during the early Jurassic epoch. Sekiya Toru introduced its designation in 2010, with the type species being X. suni.

The genus name, Xixiposaurus, is derived from the locality of Xixipo in Lufeng County, Yunnan, China, where the holotype, an incomplete skeleton including the skull was unearthed. The species name, suni, honors Professor Sun Ge from Jilin University.

The lack of fossils discovered from this species makes it size and other attributes hard to determine.
