Vulcanadon is a genus of sauropod dinosaur, belonging to the group of herbivorous, long-necked dinosaurs. It lived approximately 170 to 165 million years ago, during the Jurassic period, in what is now Zimbabwe. The first fossils of Vulcanadon were discovered in the 1960s and have provided valuable insights into this lesser-known sauropod.
Vulcanadon was a relatively small sauropod, estimated to have measured around 6 to 8 meters in length. It possessed a long neck and tail, characteristic of sauropods, which were used for reaching vegetation at various heights. Its body was supported by sturdy limbs, with the hind limbs being longer and more robust than the forelimbs. The exact arrangement of its teeth and other cranial features remains uncertain due to limited fossil evidence.
