Uteodon (Ute Tooth)

Basic facts

  • 20 feet (6m) length

  • Late Jurassic

  • USA

  • Herbivore

Uteodon is a genus of dinosaur belonging to the family Camarasauridae. It lived approximately 155 to 150 million years ago in what is now North America. The first fossils of Uteodon were discovered in the Morrison Formation of Utah, providing paleontologists with valuable clues about this lesser-known dinosaur.

Using the holotype and the related genus Camptosaurus as a reference, it is estimated that when fully matured, Uteodon could have reached a length of approximately 6 meters (20 ft) and a weight of no more than around 400 kilograms (880 lb). However, there is also a possibility that Uteodon might have been as small as around 2.5 meters (8.2 ft) in length.
