Genusaurus stands apart with its distinct characteristics. Its dorsal vertebrae are notably elongated, and the elements of its pelvis are firmly fused. The thighbone exhibits a low bone plateau beneath the major trochanter, along with an accessory trochanter to the front.

Additionally, the epicondyle of the inner femoral condyle is well-developed, and the cnemial crest extends robustly to the front, curving upwards. Originally, Genusaurus was estimated to measure approximately 3 meters (10 feet) in length.
