Betasuchus (B Crocodile)
Basic facts
13 feet (4m) length
Late Cretaceous
Netherlands
Carnivore
Betasuchus is a theropod dinosaur genus that thrived in the Late Cretaceous Period. Notably, it's one of the few dinosaur genera named based on fossils discovered in the Netherlands, alongside Orthomerus. Furthermore, Betasuchus holds the distinction of being the sole non-avian theropod discovered in the Maastrichtian Beds of this region.
Betasuchus is solely represented by a single incomplete femur, which has made it challenging to establish its precise evolutionary relationships with other theropods. In 2017, an estimated length of 4 meters (13 feet) was proposed for this dinosaur based on the available evidence.
